Tea -time can be made more scrumptious with crispy and tasty Potato patties. Quick and easy to prepare, these delicacies are a delight for any weekend party or to relish at any normal day.
There are numerous variate to make these patties with different fillings and ways of cooking, this one require deep frying and taste absolutely delicious.
(makes 10 in numbers)
- 3 medium size potatoes
- 1 small carrot
- 1 small onion diced
- 5-6 Rusks (Dried Bread slices)
- 1 tsp. red chilly powder
- 1 green chilly diced
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Chaat masala (optional)
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala (optional)
- 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seed powder
- Salt as desired
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 3 tsp shredded coriander leaves
- Oil for deep frying
Method: Boil the potatoes & carrot in a pressure cooker with very little water for 1 whistle. Cool, peel and mash the potatoes & carrot.
Powder the Rusks in a grinder and spread the powder on a plate. Mix all the ingredients except the oil in the potato mix and combine it thoroughly.
Take a small size of this mixture and make a firm ball and flatten it slightly with the palm.
Roll the patty in the dried rusk powder and coat it evenly on all sides with the powder. Repeat the same process and make all the patties.
oil in a skillet and deep fry the patties in it till it becomes dark brown in color.
Serve hot with tomato sauce or fresh coriander chutney. Rusk powder gives a crispy coating when fried and also imparts a bit of sweet taste to these Tea time snack - Potato patties.
