Recipe | 5 minute Chocolate Brownie in a mug

A slice of rich & dark Brownie is a delight for any chocolate lover, be it a gooey, chewy, fudgy or cakey brownie you just cannot stop with one.Brownie is probably the easiest to make as against baking a cake, bread or any other goody. No waiting time needed for that intimidating yeast to work and flexing muscles for kneading the elastic dough, just mix it and bake it and you are in for a sinful treat.

Normally a brownie is baked with less flour and without any leavening agents in it such as baking powder and baking soda which makes them quite dense and chewy bars.
What makes a Brownie different from a Cake;
  1. Brownies have high ratio of butter/oil to flour.
  2. Quantity of sugar is more in brownies which make it gooey.
Here is a quick Brownie recipe in microwave I often make when my children demand some sweet treat during odd hours in night.

Ingredients;
(serve 2)
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp. whole wheat flour
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  • 1 tbsp. Oil
  • 2 tbsp. Chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla essence
  • A pinch of salt

Method; Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and whisk with a fork or spoon for a minute.
Pour the batter in two small microwavable safe teacups or one large cup and microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Allow the brownies to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Drizzle the brownie with chocolate syrup or dust it with cocoa powder.
Notes;

  1. Add chopped nuts and dried fruits to make it more tasty.
  2. Replace milk with curd for better results.
  3. Substitute butter with oil for soft brownies.
  4. All purpose flour or maida will make the brownies lighter.
