A Simple Dessert of Semolina to Celebrate


This Simple dessert of Semolina to celebrate is for Tasty Bites, an interactive platform for readers and bloggers alike. As is a tradition in India, every good news accompanies a sweet, here is the easy and quick dessert for the same.



Ingredients;
  • 1 cup of Semolina or Suji rawa
  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 1/2 cup of Jaggery
  • 1/2 cup of hot Milk
  • 7-8 tsps. of Ghee
  • A few Almonds
  • 1/2 tsp. of Cardamom powder
  • 3 tsps.  grated Coconut (optional) 

Method: Heat a heavy bottom wok and dry fry the semolina in it till it changes color to that of light brown. Remove the semolina from the wok and keep it separate. Heat 5-6 tsp. of ghee and add this semolina in it and pour 2 cups of hot water in it.
Keep stirring the mixture to avoid any lumps in it. Coarsely grate the jaggery and add it to the mixture. Stir it thoroughly for 5-6 minutes.

Remove from fire and add milk in it. Heat 1-2 tsps. of remaining ghee in another small skillet and fry the almonds in it for a few minutes.Pour the fried almonds over the prepared Kheer as garnish.

This Simple Dessert of Semolina can be given to small kids and even infants as a weaning food, make sure you do not add coconut for the infants.

    The semolina pudding looks great, I used to make a savory version for my kid, this version is a rich source of iron surely.
